The Honorable Rick Santorum
United States Senate
511 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Senator Santorum:
Please be advised of NSWBC’s
intent to launch its “Whistleblowers’ Dirty Dozen” campaign to focus attention
on the failure of certain members of the U.S. Senate to take action in support
of Whistleblowers. Your name is on this list due to your failure to support
Senator Lautenberg’s bill, S. 2285: “The Whistleblower Empowerment, Security
& Taxpayer Protection Act of 2005”, and your failure to call for meaningful
investigations into and hearings on the retaliation and abuse of whistleblowers
who report waste, fraud, abuse and illegal activities within U.S. government
agencies.
Our members hail from every
political stripe, and as you will notice, our “Dirty Dozen” contains names from
both Democratic and Republican ranks.
We plan to publicize our “Dirty Dozen” list as widely as possible.
This campaign is being
launched by NSWBC in cooperation with over 150 Whistleblowers and the active
support of other whistleblower organizations. We are preparing to launch the
campaign on Thursday, June 29 at 1:00PM, together with a copy of the attached
poster, and wished to give you this opportunity to respond prior to our
announcement. No senator will be placed on the “Dirty Dozen” list
who:
•
Publicly
pledges support for the Lautenberg bill (S. 2285).
•
Publicly
pledges support for hearings on national security whistleblower issues and
cases, with direct testimony from whistleblowers.
•
Publicly
pledges support for the elimination of the national security exemption to
whistleblower protection.
If you
believe we have listed you contrary to the evidence, or in error, please
contact us.
Respectfully,
National Security Whistleblowers Coalition
