The Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton
United States Senate
476 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510-3203
Dear Senator Clinton:
NSWBC, on behalf of its member whistleblowers, wishes to advise you of
our support of the VA Whistleblowers Coalition (VAWBC), and joins their call
for congressional investigations into the deeply troubling unethical and
criminal activities within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that they
have repeatedly brought to your attention.
We have been copied on their letter of January 18, 2006 to you, where
they have again provided explicit information in support of their charges, and
have again called upon you to take immediate action.
The activities that occurred within the Stratton VA Hospital are
unconscionable. Veterans, to whom we all owe a debt we can never repay, to whom
we owe our freedom, our very way of life, were used as guinea pigs, were made
to suffer, and were murdered. How can you stand by and refuse to act on their
behalf? This occurred and is occurring in your state, on your watch; it is your
responsibility – one that cannot be passed off.
We have been advised by VAWBC that you have responded to them stating
that you have supported increased funding for the VA, as if providing
additional funding to an organization already misusing its existing funding is
a solution. What do you hope to accomplish by rewarding the wrongdoing – and
the wrongdoers?
VAWBC has it right. What needs to take place is immediate action by
congress to force a swift and thorough investigation to determine the extent of
illegal and unethical practices within the Stratton VA Hospital and the VA
itself, and then to take positive remedial action. NSWBC urges you, as Senator,
as the people’s representative, not to continue to look away, but to do your
duty and act now.
Respectfully,
National Security Whistleblowers Coalition
